What child doesn’t love the soft touch of a stuffed animal? These kid-favorite toys will always be cherished, so why not celebrate a special day with a Teddy Bear party? This huggable theme is ideal for young children and suitable for both boys and girls. To expand on the idea, have a picnic theme for the boys or a tea party for the girls. Don’t forget to gather up all the plush stuffed animals in your home to come along and join in the fun!
Decide who you are going to invite to the celebration and mail our Teddy Bear tea party invitations to the guests. You can make the event a kids-only affair or invite the whole family. A simple idea for invitations includes cutting out the shape of a bear on brown construction paper, adding a colored ribbon or bow for the necktie and attaching the details of the event to the bear’s tummy. Or, purchase plastic cookie cutters in the shape of these lovable animals, and add a note with the celebration’s details. You can also add a cookie recipe for a personal touch.
Once the invites are mailed out, you’ll want to start stocking up on Teddy Bear party supplies. For starters, gather up the stuffed animals from your kids’ bedrooms and place them around the play space. The animals can be placed on the tables with balloons tied around them for centerpieces, as well as on couches, chairs or the backyard patio. Encourage guests to bring their own stuffed animals if they’d like as well.
If you’re planning a picnic theme, decorate the tables in checkered tablecloths and serve classic foods out of large picnic baskets. If having a tea party theme, use flower tablecloths instead, and decorate the tables using fake flowers in petite vases. Instead of serving food out of picnic baskets, use plastic tea accessories such as mini plates and tea cups. Or, if you’re sticking to a traditional Teddy Bear party, cover the tables in white tablecloths and sponge paint bear shapes onto them. Hang brown streamers around the area and set out animal books for your guests to look at.
Teddy Bear party decorations can also be used for fun activities. If you invited your guests’ favorite stuffed animals to the event, you can set out fun clothes for the kids to dress their animals in. Musical Bears is another great game that is just like Musical Chairs, but the kids set their stuffed animals in the seats instead. The animal without a chair is out! You can also lead a round of Teddy Bear Says, where kids spin around and touch the ground following your lead.
Depending on the theme of your event, you can serve snacks and foods that are consistent with a picnic or tea theme. For example, if celebrating the day picnic-style, load up on all the basic staples including slices of watermelon, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pretzels. Serve a bowl of freshly squeezed lemonade as well. For a tea theme, serve petite sandwiches, mini cookies and flavored teas to sip on. Don’t forget a delicious cake in the shape of this huggable animal!
At the end of the celebration, you’ll want to send your guests home with Teddy Bear party favors. Stickers, coloring books or gummy bears are all great ideas that kids will love. Or, try individual serving boxes of Teddy Grahams with plastic cups, personalized with each child’s name. By adding that extra dose of creativity with your Teddy Bear birthday party supplies, you’ll throw a memorable occasion that no one will forget!
