If your child is enthralled with the moon, the stars, the planets and zero gravity, you might find yourself shopping for outer space party supplies when the next birthday rolls around. Spend some time shopping around to get the best ideas possible for the big day. Use your imagination and look at some of your child’s books on the topic in order to get some additional possibilities. Heading to your local library can also provide more options.
One thing on your space party supplies list should be some glow in the dark stars. These can either be hung from the ceiling so that they dangle, or they can be attached flush to the ceiling. Take time to make sure that the windows in the room can be covered so that you can turn out the lights at some time during the event and have the kids see the glowing stars. Passing items around the circle in the darkened room while telling an adventurous extraterrestrial story really adds to the fun. Head to your local craft store to get some planets and asteroids. Purchase some Styrofoam balls and paint them in a variety of colors to represent the planets, asteroids and moons. Many craft stores have a complete kit already packaged together so that children can use them for science projects. Purchase one or more of these kits to use as part of your outer space decorations. Hang the finished products from the ceiling or hand them out. Don’t be afraid to supply a large number, it will add to the overall look and feel of the celebration. Purchase some lava style rocks to use as part of the decorations. They can represent moon rocks. You can likely find these, or something similar that will work as well, at any home improvement or garden shop.
Consider purchasing items to make a craft project while you’re looking for your space themed party supplies. Collect empty toilet paper or paper towel tubes to use as a rocket ship base. Provide stickers, pens, crayons, scissors and glue to allow each child to build his or her own rocket. If you are dealing with smaller children consider having each child make a hanging mobile with strong thread. Provide them with cutouts like rockets, stars and planets. They can color these items and then an adult can string their finished pieces from a coat hanger, a painted dowel rod or a coat hook that hangs on top of a door.
Depending on your child, you might consider using some type of an alien as part of your decorations or games. Play pin the alien on his space ship instead of pin the tail on the donkey. If you have your game ideas planned out before you shop for your outer space party supplies, you’ll be able to have a complete list of everything needed while shopping.
One other thing to remember when purchasing your outer space birthday party supplies is your invitations. You may be able to find some pre-made cards that fit the theme, but if you can’t consider simply cutting out a star shape and writing the event details across the front of the star. This simple shape fits your theme and is very easy to use.
Once you have all of your space birthday party supplies, be sure you have your camera ready with extra batteries. The day should be fun for both you and your child, so try to have the planning done early so you can relax and enjoy the day with your child and friends.
