Awesome Carnival Birthday Party Games and Ideas

Themed birthdays are one of the best ways to give kids a good time on one of their favorite days of the year, and a carnival themed birthday party is one of the best ways to go about doing it. If you decide to throw carnival birthday parties for your children, you will want to make sure that it is complete with plenty of games and prizes. This means that you will need to be prepared with some toys to give away and a great deal of help from friends and neighbors. You can buy many of your carnival birthday party supplies from the dollar store, as well as a few grand prize winning toys from nicer places.

To make sure your kids get the most out of the day, you will want to set up some carnival birthday party games. Most of these are not all that difficult to set up, but they can be a great deal of fun, even for the adults. Here are some ideas.

Knockdown – This is one of the most basic carnival birthday party games that you can set up, but it can be very fun for your kids. All you need to do for this game is stack cans up in a pyramid, and have your kids take a certain number of shots at them with a beanbag or a ball. You can award them points for each can, or give them a prize if they knock over a certain number of cans.

Dart Throw – Buy a board, thumb tacks, darts, and several balloons. Fill up the balloons ahead of time. Make them smaller to make the game harder if you like. Thumb tack the balloons to the board, and have the kids try to pop them with the darts. When it comes to carnival games for birthday parties, this one can be a little more dangerous than the others. Make sure that the kids are old enough for the game, and that you have the parent’s permission first.

Ping Pong Toss - Dig out or collect a series of glass jars, and give the kids a certain number of tries to throw their ping pong balls into the jars. If you like, you can give some jars more points in the game than the others based on how far away they are or how small the jar is, with the small or farther jars being worth more points.

Penny Toss – This is a fairly straightforward game where children stand behind a line and toss pennies into cans. To really make the game alive, you will want to decorate it. You can make a fairly professional looking penny toss that fits in with the carnival birthday party theme by using wrapping paper, soup cans, cardboard, and masking tape. Simply wrap the cardboard and soup cans in wrapping paper, attach the cans to the cardboard with the masking tape, and use a line of masking tape to indicate where the kids will stand. You put the cans in a row and give them different point values if you like.

Guess the Weight – Buy a scale if you don’t have one, and gather up a bunch of items which are heavy enough to register on the scale. Let the kids submit their guesses for the weight of each item. The one who guesses the closest to the real weight will win a prize. If you have prizes that would register on the scale, you can make a game of having them guess the weight of the prizes themselves.

There are several other carnival games that you can set up for your kids, but this list should give you an idea of how easy it is to create a fun carnival party experience for your children right in your own backyard.
